FAQ
- Can we apply online?
Not at the present time. However, the application is available on the PROM website. We suggest you complete the text online, print and fax to 217/557-5937.
You may also mail the application to: PROM Coordinator, Division of Traffic Safety, 1340 North 9 th Street, P.O. Box 19245, Springfield, Illinois 62794-9245. It is very important that the application is typed in order to expedite processing!

Who do we contact if we have program questions?
E-mailing the OTSD Coordinator Marianne Hankins at Marianne.Hankins@illinois.gov is the best way to get questions answered.

What other schools are we competing against for the PROM program?
All high schools in Illinois have been sent information about the program. Since supplies are limited, applying early is the way to get involved.

What will we receive if we get involved with the PROM program?
If DTS receives all your forms correctly and legibly completed and you apply before we run out of materials, you will get a box in the mail that includes the following items:
30 t-shirts
100 lanyards
100 key chains
100 pens
100 teen driving fact sheets

We have a really big school and need more supplies than a single package provides, can we get more?
Our application asks for school enrollment. If you think you could effectively use 2 packages, make the case in the space provided on the application and, depending on demand, we will try and accommodate your request.

What are we required to do once we get into the program?
The teachers must discuss the importance of teen safe driving as often as possible and hand out PROM materials at school; teachers must wear PROM t-shirts on the last school day before prom and the program contact person at the high school is required to submit a short report after your prom is over.

Who decides who gets a PROM package?
You do! This is a first-come, first-in program. The first schools to submit a completed application will receive a package.

What format should the final report be in?
We have a simple report form available on our website.

What areas of focus does PROM have?
Impaired Driving
Safety belts
Speeding
Distracted driving

Where can we obtain teen crash information?
Start with your local police or sheriff's departments. If you need more information, contact the Division of Traffic Safety's Crash Information Section at 217/782-2575.

What if we do not submit a final report?
You will get a letter from DTS reminding you to submit a report. If you still don't submit a report, we will not allow you to participate in future programs.

How will we know if we didn't get in the program?
All schools that apply will get a letter or e-mail of acceptance/denial.

Can schools participating in OTSD also apply for the PROM program?
Yes, all high schools in Illinois are eligible for the PROM program
